    Lonesome Lake Hut - 2760'

This is the second newest of the AMC's 8 mountain huts, build in 1964 next to this shallow mountain lake with easy access from Franconia Notch. The main building holds the kitchen with 46 guests sleeping in seperate bunkhouses. The hut is now a family hut, with special programs for children. The hut is open from May to the middle of October and guests sleep in seperate bunkhouses. Starting in the winter of 2002-2003 the hut will be open on a caretaker basis. This means hikers carry and prepare their own food in the hut kitchen.

Lonesome Lake is the southernmost hut in the AMC's chain, followed by Greenleaf. The quickest route to the hut is a 1.5 mile trip up the Lonesome Lake trail. The closest 4000 footers to the hut are North Kinsman, South Kinsman and Cannon. The Kinsman Pond Shelter is two miles up the Fishin' Jimmy trail. Here is a map of the area.
