Monroe with Lakes of the Clouds Hut

    Mt Monroe - 5384'

    Just south along the Presidential ridge, Monroe is a common side trip for those hiking the Mt Washington. It is also a quick sunset or sunrise trip for those staying at Lakes of the Clouds hut.

    The quickest route is up the Ammonoosuc Ravine trail from the Marshfield Base of the cog railroad on the west of the ridge. From Pinkham Notch the most direct routes are over Boott Spur via the Boott Spur and Camel trails or through Tuckerman Ravine on the Tuckerman Ravine and Tuckerman Crossover.

    Trailheads

    • Ammonoosuc Ravine - From Rt 302 in Bretton Woods, take the Base Road 6 miles to the trailhead parking area on the right, just before the Cog Railroad. A WMNF Parking Pass is required.
