Icy Liberty summit

    Mt Liberty - 4459'

Mt Liberty is on the southern part of Franconia ridge, near Mt Flume. The summit is rocky and mostly clear, with excellent views of Franconia Notch and the Pemi Wilderness.

The quickest route to the summit is via the Liberty Springs trail, which passes the Liberty Springs campsite, the only available camping in the area. There is a reliable spring at the tent platforms there.  Another route is to make a loop by goin up the Flume Slide trail to the summit of Mt Flume, then following the Franconia Ridge trail north to Mt Liberty, finally hooking up with the Liberty Springs trail just north of the summit.

    Trailheads

  • Flume Visitors Center - This parking lot serves the Liberty Springs and Flume Slide trails.  To get there, take exit 1 on the Franconia Parkway, and park in the lot just north of the Flume Visitors Center.  There are outhouses at the trailhead.  The first .8 miles of trail runs parallel to the Parkway and the bike path, joining up with the bike path until the true start of the Liberty Springs trail.  A WMNF Parking pass is not required.
